I love how you seperated each limb by color to better visualise their movement, thanks a lot ! If you ever find the time, I'd love to see your style on vertical movement aswell !
Hope you have a wonderfull day and thanks again :^)
Thanks for this asset it’s really great for those of us doing programmer art. We used it as a base for a Jam game in GMTK and it really make all the difference.
that would have to be a new project as it would require new animations for every action listed. I will say- it's something I want to do but there is no timeline/ETA for that currently
Good afternoon, I would like to express my great gratitude to you for the support of the enthusiast community in game development, I have been learning to draw for 2 years, now I have started creating my own game, but I don't know how to animate yet, the question is, can I use your work to create my own unique characters? (pointing to you in a separate thank you
Nevermind, I made my own in Scratch (it was quite hard to) but you could also add the thing I mentioned. Other ideas:
Actually I broke it in the code...
Emote Pack: Expand on the previous suggestion of emote animations by creating a variety of expressive animations, including laughter, crying, shyness, confusion, and excitement. This will give game developers more options to convey emotions through the character.
Sitting Animation: Animate frames that depict the character in a seated position, possibly with crossed legs or resting against a wall. This animation can be used when the character is resting or interacting with objects while sitting.
Mounting Animation: If your character can ride a mount or vehicle, create frames that illustrate the character climbing onto or mounting the object. This animation can also include riding or steering motions.
Dialogue Animation: Create frames that illustrate the character speaking or engaging in a conversation. This can involve gestures, mouth movement, or speech bubbles to indicate dialogue.
Shielding Animation: If your character can use a shield or defensive ability, animate frames that demonstrate the character raising and holding the shield to block incoming attacks. Experiment with different blocking positions and angles.
Taunt Animation: Create frames that illustrate the character taunting enemies or showing off their skills. This animation can be triggered as a playful gesture or during combat to provoke opponents.
Shivering Animation: Design frames that portray the character shivering or trembling, indicating cold or fear. This animation can be used in icy environments or scary situations.
Prone Animation: Animate frames that show the character lying down or crawling on the ground. This animation can be used for stealthy movement or hiding behind cover.
Eating Animation: Create frames that depict the character eating or consuming food. This animation can be used to show health restoration or as a gameplay element related to hunger.
Disguise Animation: Design frames that illustrate the character putting on or removing a disguise. This animation can be used in stealth-based gameplay or as part of a disguise mechanic.
Drinking Animation: Animate frames that show the character drinking from a bottle or potion. This animation can be used for health or mana restoration or to showcase the character's thirst-quenching actions.
Lifting Animation: Create frames that depict the character lifting heavy objects or weights. This animation can be used to showcase the character's strength or as part of puzzle-solving mechanics.
Running on Walls Animation: Design frames that illustrate the character running on walls or performing wall jumps. This animation can be used for acrobatic sequences or advanced platforming challenges.
Backflip Animation: Animate frames that show the character performing a graceful backflip. This animation can be used for stylish movements or to avoid attacks.
Sneeze Animation: Create frames that portray the character sneezing or experiencing allergies. This animation can be used as a comedic element or to depict environmental factors affecting the character.
Transforming Animation: Design frames that depict the character transforming into different forms or shapes. This animation can be used for unique gameplay mechanics or as part of a storyline.
Stealth Kill Animation: Animate frames that illustrate the character silently taking down enemies from behind. This animation can be used in stealth-focused gameplay or as part of assassination mechanics.
Hanging Upside Down Animation: Create frames that show the character hanging upside down from a rope or ceiling. This animation can be used for puzzle-solving or when the character is in an upside-down environment.
Dance Battle Animation: Design frames that depict the character engaging in a dance battle with an opponent. This animation can be used for rhythm-based gameplay or as a fun and entertaining interaction.
Fishing Animation: Animate frames that illustrate the character fishing, casting a line, and reeling in a catch. This animation can be used for fishing minigames or as a gameplay element related to gathering resources.
Shield Bash Animation: Create frames that show the character using their shield as a weapon to bash or stun enemies. This animation can be used in close-quarters combat or as a defensive maneuver.
Rope Swing Animation: Design frames that depict the character swinging on a rope and releasing at the right moment to reach a target. This animation can be used for platforming challenges or as a traversal mechanic.
Disappointment Animation: Animate frames that portray the character expressing disappointment or frustration. This animation can be triggered in response to failed actions or negative outcomes.
Bowing Animation: Create frames that illustrate the character bowing as a sign of respect or gratitude. This animation can be used during interactions with important non-playable characters or in ceremonial moments.
Tumbling Animation: Design frames that show the character performing a series of flips and somersaults in a tumbling sequence. This animation can be used for acrobatic movements or as part of a special ability.
Please note I am not trying to overload you with things to do, I am just throwing ideas out there for you to be able to create more for the itch.io community as a whole as I do not require these animations I have listed as of writing this. Thank you for your consideration.
Wow this is very well thought out & articulated. I appreciate the effort you put into this and I'll definitely reference this moving forward for some inspiration.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you found my comment well thought out and articulated. It's always great to know that my efforts are appreciated. I'd also really appreciate the sloped standing spots for me too!
How can I contribute to this? Used your excellent pack to quickly paper-doll some sprites and ended up creating a couple of extras that might be of worth.
Amazing art work, idea for V4, what about a falling animation, that starte falling in a sarten speed, like max fall speed, or like in celeste when you hold down well falling.
Idea for V4: Interactions with other items like pick up items form floor, pull lever in front of character, and maybe going into doorways (away form screen)?
Thanks bro, I'm bad at drawing without references, but I want to make a gift in the form of a game for a friend in the metroidvania genre, you are my savior, good health to you
Woah this looks great, will start using it as soon as I can grab a copy of aseprite for myself. Just a quick suggestion though, would you consider making animations for climbing up and down ladders?
yo im making a game like a bigger project in unity. i really appreciate your animations you're assets helped me with animation to my game characters . Keep it up men u're doing an awesome job <3
love the animations but the wall slide animation is flipped relative to the rest so when adding into my project i have to flip the image differently could you please fix this problem by flipping the wall_slide sprites
Would you possibly be interested in adding some Bow & Arrow animations and some martial arts fighting animations? (different styles of punches/kicks, blocks, etc)
Great asset pack. Really helps out alot of people with the customization (Even though it looks great already). Thanks for this. One of a kind asset pack for any game.

Hi Hayden,
Thanks for this asset it’s really great for those of us doing programmer art. We used it as a base for a Jam game in GMTK and it really make all the difference.

Could you add that the characters can be seen a view of them from above?
that would have to be a new project as it would require new animations for every action listed. I will say- it's something I want to do but there is no timeline/ETA for that currently
Ok

Message me on discord @zegley
For me they are exporting as aesprite files. I do not have aesprite and use Piskel. How can I convert the files to PNG to edit them in Piskel?
not sure how piskel works - The sprite sheets are all PNG so you can splice those
what about running and shooting? great asset by the way! oh
Hand over hand monkey-bar navigation would be a nice addition. Great assets btw, thanks for sharing!
Amazing assets!!! can you make another gun animation but for a rifle? various melee weapons as well
Amazing art work, idea for V4, what about a falling animation, that starte falling in a sarten speed, like max fall speed, or like in celeste when you hold down well falling.
AMAZING ASSESST!! LOVE IT. Please could you do a v 5.0 with guns version.
I really wanted one where he shoots multiple directions with a gun.
Idea for V4: Interactions with other items like pick up items form floor, pull lever in front of character, and maybe going into doorways (away form screen)?

Can you post the map you made?
I'm not sure what map you're referring to here
They might think you are planning to add the tiles in the example vid to the sprite downloads.
You'll find that the tilemap is already in the V1 asset pack.
Ok, I dont think they can find the tilemap then.
Woah this looks great, will start using it as soon as I can grab a copy of aseprite for myself. Just a quick suggestion though, would you consider making animations for climbing up and down ladders?
Ladder climb animations have been added

I am a fan and will definitely be integrating this asset pack into my game Hunt the Muglump in the near future
This looks great. I'll have to keep my wallet handy for when you add shooting animations. Looking forward to it.
thanks for you sprites! love you~
Amazing. Female walk? Nothing extreme, just that most are easily unisex except that that walk is pretty mucho macho. Anyway, TY either way!
(Other Suggestions: Knockdown and recovery/get up.)
Great asset pack. Really helps out alot of people with the customization (Even though it looks great already). Thanks for this. One of a kind asset pack for any game.
